Connect Cue Tip Contact Errors to Cue Ball Route Errors

A route error can begin with the wrong plan, the wrong contact, the wrong speed or a changed cue path. Start with the evidence closest to the cue: declare a tip-contact zone, use a safe removable chalk mark, and record the observed mark separately from the cue-ball route.

Four separate evidence rows link center, above, below and side contact declarations to line, forward roll, stun/draw and cushion-response checks
Original Ariakon CONTACT–ROUTE matrix. Compare the observed strike with the route before changing aim, equipment or stroke advice.

Build the CONTACT–ROUTE matrix

Use ordinary contact ranges, a sound tip and even chalk. Do not test the miscue limit. Mark ball positions, clean the cue ball between blocks as permitted, and stop if the tip, ferrule or shaft is loose or damaged.

The tangent-line and 30-degree references describe different cue-ball conditions after object-ball contact; speed, cut, spin and cloth still matter. Use them as predictions to test, not promises.

Score contact before outcome

Worked example: the player earns 23 declarations, 16 contact, 15 direction and 10 distance points. Eight distance misses follow high contact marks, while direction is correct on centered marks. Her next six attempts keep the route and speed target but rehearse the intended vertical contact; she does not buy a tip or change aim yet.
