About Ariakon
Ariakon was founded in 2021 as a specialized subsidiary of Sporteq, our parent company renowned for high‑performance sporting goods. Sporteq has been working with carbon‑fiber materials since the mid‑2000s, testing them in various applications and building deep expertise. Carbon‑fiber composites are incredibly strong for their weight; they are lightweight, stiff and have excellent resistance to corrosion and fatigue.
These advantages have made carbon fiber a staple in aerospace, automotive and sporting goods industries. To harness these qualities for billiards, Sporteq launched Ariakon as a dedicated unit focused exclusively on carbon‑fiber cues and accessories.
Why We Are the Carbon Fiber Experts?
What sets Ariakon apart is an obsessive focus on material science and craftsmanship. Carbon fibers are attractive for composites because of their high tensile strength, high Young’s modulus and good thermal and electrical conductivity. Ariakon draws on Sporteq’s long experience with these materials but adds its own innovations:
- Research-driven design: Our engineers study how fiber orientation, ply thickness and resin chemistry affect feel and deflection. Using data from aerospace and sporting goods research, we tailor each shaft for specific cue sports (e.g., rotation games versus straight pool).
- Advanced manufacturing: Every part is manufactured in a climate-controlled facility using multiple curing cycles. Autoclave pressure eliminates voids and yields a seamless finish, while precision machining ensures perfect concentricity.
- Experience and community: While Ariakon itself is new, it is built on nearly two decades of Sporteq’s carbon-fiber expertise. We collaborate with competitive players, coaches and engineers to push the limits of what a cue can do and to educate the broader billiards community about the benefits of composite technology.
Our journey from Sporteq’s broader carbon-fiber portfolio to a focused cue brand reflects a commitment to innovation and performance. We believe that combining cutting-edge materials with meticulous craftsmanship can transform the way people experience their sport—and that passion continues to drive us today.
Pioneering Carbon‑Fiber Cues
Although the Ariakon brand is young, it benefits from nearly two decades of carbon‑fiber know‑how developed at Sporteq. Carbon fibers have been produced commercially since the late 1960s, and global production rose from about 27,000 tons in 2006 to a projected 140,000 tons by 2020.
Sporteq’s engineers believed that if aerospace‑grade carbon fiber could withstand extreme loads, it could also deliver unmatched feedback and control in a cue stick.
Since 2021 Ariakon has refined its craft: selecting high‑purity PAN‑based fibers (which contain at least 92 % carbon), developing proprietary resin systems and perfecting autoclave‑cured laminates. Each new model—whether a break cue, jump cue or a low‑deflection shaft—is tested extensively with touring professionals and recreational players alike. The goal is to harness carbon fiber’s strength and low‑deflection characteristics to provide players with greater accuracy and consistency.
